Stocks Ended Mixed, Oil Prices Rose

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday, as investors await central bank policy decisions later this month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 8.05 points, or 0.14%, to 26,835.51. The S&P 500 was down 0.28 point, or 0.01%, to 2,978.43. The Nasdaq Composite fell 15.64 points, or 0.19%, to 8,087.44.

Oil futures rose Monday, marking their highest settlement in almost six weeks, after Saudi Arabia’s new energy minister signaled a continued commitment to production curbs. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery rose $1.33, or 2.4%, to settle at $57.85 a barrel, while November Brent crude added $1.05, or 1.7%, to $62.59 a barrel.
