Stocks Erased Day’s Losses and Ended Mixed

U.S. stocks rebounded from heavy losses seen early in the session and ended mixed on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ending slightly higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 22.45 points, or 0.08%, to 26,007.07. The S&P 500 edged up 2.21 points, or 0.08%, to 2,883.98. The Nasdaq Composite gained 29.56 points, or 0.38%, to 7,863.

Oil prices tumbled Wednesday, as the White House’s tussles with major trade partners are seen as a risk to global energy demand. West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery shed $2.54, or 4.7%, to settle at $51.09 a barrel. October Brent crude dropped $2.71, or 4.6%, at $56.23 a barrel.

Lyft (LYFT) reported second-quarter results that topped consensus expectations as the company attracted more riders to the platform and narrowed its losses.The company reported revenue of $867.3 million, compared with $809.35 million expected by Bloomberg.

Roku (ROKU) on Wednesday reported its Q2 2019 earnings, beating analysts’ estimates on both the top and bottom line. The company reported revenue of $250.1 million, compared with $224.4 million expected.
