Stocks Little Changed ahead of Fed Meeting

U.S. stocks were little changed in the early trading on Monday as investors awaited monetary policy decisions from Federal Reserve later this week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 20.56 points, or 0.08%, to 26,069.05. The S&P 500 added 3.25 points, or 0.11%, to 2,890.23. The Nasdaq Composite rose 42.37 points, or 0.54%, to 7,839.03.

Crude futures prices fell Monday as investors digested worrisome demand updates issued last week while keeping tabs on typically price-supportive risks percolating in the Middle East. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery was down 56 cents, or 1%, to $51.95 a barrel. August Brent crude fell 70 cents, or 1.1%, to $61.31 a barrel.

Central bankers of the Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan each set meet to meet and deliver their latest monetary policy decisions. A survey by the Wall Street Journal earlier in the week signaled that nearly 40% of economists (paywall) polled by the publication expect the U.S. central bank to ease monetary policy next month.
