Stocks Edged Lower at Open

Stocks edged lower at open on Friday, after the S&P 500 on Thursday closed at a record high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately retreated 25.77 points, or 0.10%, to 26,727.40. The S&P 500 slipped 6.60 points, or 0.22%, to 2,947.58. The Nasdaq Composite fell 38.18 points, or 0.47%, to 8,013.16.

The price of oil is rising on Friday as tensions continue to escalate between the US and Iran. August West Texas Intermediate crude was up 35 cents, or 0.6%, to $57.42 a barrel. August Brent crude climbed 87 cents, or 1.4%, to $65.30 a barrel.
