Stocks Edged Higher to Start June

U.S. stocks edged higher at open on Monday, even as tariff fears dragged a key bond yield benchmark to its lowest level in about 20 months. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 36.25 points, or 0.15%, to 24,851.29. The S&P 500 added 2.95 points, or 0.11%, to 2,755.01. The Nasdaq Composite was down 24.39 points, or 0.33%, to 7,428.75.

Oil futures headed sharply higher Monday morning. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery gained 77 cents, or 1.4%, to trade at $54.27 a barrel. August Brent rose 68 cents, or 1%, at $62.62 a barrel.
