Stocks Opened Higher, Recovered Some Losses

U.S. stocks rose at open on Tuesday as the three major indices clawed back some losses from earlier this week.3. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately advanced 124.06 points or, 0.49%, to 25,449.05. The S&P 500 was up 17.56 points, or 0.62%, to 2,829.43. The Nasdaq Composite gained 54.81 points, or 0.72%, to 7,701.83.

Oil futures shot higher Tuesday amid a new report of attacks on major Saudi facilities. West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery was up 17 cents, or 0.3%, at $61.21 a barrel. global benchmark July Brent crude was up 98 cents, or 1.4%, at $71.21 a barrel.

Disney has struck a deal with Comcast that gives it full control of streaming service Hulu. The companies said Tuesday that as early as January 2024 Comcast can require Disney to buy NBCUniversal’s 33% interest in Hulu and Disney can require NBCUniversal to sell that stake to Disney for its fair market value at that future time. Disney has guaranteed a sale price that represents a minimum total equity value of $27.5 billion.
