Stocks Ended Lower, Weighed by Bank Earnings

U.S. stocks ended slightly lower on Monday after earnings from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Citigroup Inc. underwhelmed amid concerns over the banking sector’s health. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 27.53 points, or 0.10%, to 26,384.77. The S&P 500 was down 1.83 points, or 0.06%, to 2,905.58. The Nasdaq Composite fell 8.15 points, or 0.10%, to 7,976.01.

Oil futures ended lower Monday, as a Russian official reportedly questioned his country’s participation in the OPEC-led production cut deal on concerns over market share. West Texas Intermediate for May delivery fell 49 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $63.40 a barrel. June Brent crude also lost 37 cents, or 0.5%, to $71.18 a barrel.
