Stocks Opened Lower on Growth Worries

U.S stocks opened lower on Monday as investors continued to digest global growth concerns. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 55.21 points, or 0.22%, to 25,447.11. The S&P 500 was down 9.17 points, or 0.33%, to 2,791.54. The Nasdaq Composite declined 39.59 points, or 0.52%, to 7,603.08.

Oil futures struggled for direction on Monday amid persistent worries about recessionary environment taking hold of major global economies and the potential effect contractions could have on energy demand. West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery fell 8 cents, or less than 0.1%, at $58.96 a barrel. May Brent crude was 15 cents, or 0.2%, lower at $66.88 a barrel.
