Stocks Posted Fifth Consecutive Day of Gains

U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday, with all three indexes producing a fifth consecutive finish in the green. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 122.80 points, or 0.51%, to 24,001.92. The S&P 500 rose 11.68 points, or 0.45%, to 2,596.64. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 28.99 points, or 0.42%, to 6,986.07.

Oil futures notched a ninth straight session of gains, the longest winning streak in about nine years for the U.S. benchmark and more than 11 years for global crude prices. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery picked up 23 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $52.59 a barrel. March Brent crude rose 24 cents, or 0.4%, to $61.68 a barrel.
