Stocks Opened Higher on Upbeat Earnings

U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, buoyed by upbeat corporate earnings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 213.86 points, or 0.87%, to 24,767.10. The S&P 500 gained 20.12 points, or 0.76%, to 2,662.45. The Nasdaq Composite advance 57.04 points, or 0.81%, to 7,130.51.

Crude prices ticked higher Friday, as supply concerns tied to Venezuela outweighed a report showing a two-month high in U.S. crude stockpiles. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery rose 26 cents, or 0.4%, to $53.38 a barrel. March Brent crude rose 9 cents, or 0.1%, to $61.21 a barrel.
