Stocks Opened Solidly Higher, Oil Rallied

U.S. stocks opened solidly higher on Wednesday, on continued optimism over U.S.-China trade talks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately climbed 173.29 points, or 0.73%, to 23,960.74. The S&P 500 advanced 12.21 points, or 0.47%, to 2,586.62. The Nasdaq Composite gained 42.96 points, or 0.62%, to 6,939.96.

Oil rallied Wednesday on continued optimism over U.S.-China trade talks and industry data pointing to a fall in domestic inventories. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery rose $1.13, or 2.3%, to $50.91 a barrel. March Brent crude rose $1.13, or 2.4%, to $59.85 a barrel.
