Stocks Ended Slightly Higher in First Session of 2019

U.S. stocks closed slightly higher on Wednesday in a turbulent trading session after global growth concerns were offset by a sharp rebound in oil prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average picked up 18.78 points, or 0.08%, to 23,346.24. The S&P 500 added 3.18 points, or 0.13%, to 2,510.03. The Nasdaq Composite gained 30.66 points, or 0.46%, to 6,665.94.

Oil futures on Wednesday shook off earlier losses to settle at their highest in two weeks. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery climbed $1.13, or 2.5%, to settle at $46.54 a barrel. March Brent crude added $1.11, or 2.1%, to $54.91 a barrel.
