Stocks Ended Higher on Optimism over U.S.-China Trade Talks

U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday as optimism over U.S.-China trade talks bolstered sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 256.10 points, or 1.09%, to 23,787.45. The S&P 500 gained 24.72 points, or 0.97%, to 2,574.41. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 73.53 points, or 1.08%, to 6,897.00.

Oil futures Tuesday finished higher for a seventh straight session, with prices lifted by global efforts to curb crude output, as well as measured optimism around U.S.-China trade talks. West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery rose $1.26, or 2.6%, to settle at $49.78 a barrel. March Brent crude added $1.39, or 2.4%, to $58.72 a barrel.
