Stocks Opened Lower after Historic Gain

U.S. stocks opened lower on Thursday, after posting their best session for the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately dropped 433.07 points, or 1.89%, to 22,445.38. The S&P 500 fell 46.23 points, or 1.87%, to 2,421.47. The Nasdaq Composite declined 119.76 points, or 1.83%, to 6,434.60.

Oil prices fell on Thursday after rebounding 8 percent in the previous session, as worries over a glut in crude supply and concerns over a faltering global economy pressured prices even as a stock market rally offered support. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery fell 56 cents, or 1.2%, to $45.68 a barrel. February Brent crude declined 89 cents, or 1.6%, to $53.58 a barrel.
