Stocks Ended Sharply Higher, Dow Added More Than 1000 Points

U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Wednesday, as the Dow surged more than 1,000 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1,086.25 points, or 4.98%, to 22,878.45. The S&P 500 advanced 116.60 points, or 4.96%, to 2,467.70. The The Nasdaq Composite gained 361.44 points, or 5.84%, to 6,554.35.

Crude-oil futures snapped back by some 8% on Wednesday, after closing the pre-Christmas session at their lowest since July 2017. February West Texas Intermediate gained $4.69, or 8.6%, to $46.22 a barrel. February Brent rose $4, or 7.9%, at $54.47 a barrel.
