Stocks Ended Higher after Another Volatile Session

U.S. stocks ended in positive territory Monday after another volatile session saw the Dow swing by more than 600 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 34.31 points, or 0.14%, to 24,423.26. The S&P 500 rose 4.64 points, or 0.18%, to 2,637.72. The Nasdaq Composite gained 51.27 points, or 0.74%, to 7,020.52.

Oil futures settled at their lowest in roughly a week on Monday on growing concerns over a slowdown in energy demand. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery fell $1.61, or 3.1%, to settle at $51 a barrel. February Brent crude fell $1.70, or 2.8%, to end at $59.97 a barrel.
