Stocks Opened Mixed, Oil Continued to Sink

U.S. stocks were mixed at open on Tuesday, while crude oil continued its precipitous decline. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 29.49 points, or 0.12%, to 25,357.69. The S&P 500 added 5.77 points, or 0.21%, to 2,731.99. The Nasdaq Composite was up 20.33 points, or 0.28%, to 7,221.20.

Oil prices fell anew on Tuesday, continuing a slide that has West Texas Intermediate crude in the grips of the biggest losing streak in more than 30 years. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery fell $1.43, or 2.4% to $58.51 a barrel. Brent crude tumbled $1.48, or 2.1%, to $68.62 a barrel.

Amazon.com Inc will on Tuesday announce it has selected New York and Northern Virginia for its second headquarters, a source told Reuters, ending a more than year-long contest that has seen frenzied bidding from locales across North America.
