Stocks Opened Lower, Oil Prices Slumped

U.S. stocks opened lower on Friday as energy stocks took a hit from oil prices sliding to their lowest in more than a year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 108.86 points, or 0.44%, to 24,355.83. The S&P 500 declined 12.65 points, or 0.48%, to 2,637.28. The Nasdaq Composite was down 5.52 points, or 0.08%, to 6,966.73.

Oil prices fell to their lowest in more than a year on Friday, as investors increasingly focused on a coming OPEC meeting. January West Texas Intermediate crude slid $3.73, or 6.8% to $50.90 a barrel. January Brent slid $2.95, or 4.7%, to $59.65 a barrel.
