Stocks Ended Sharply Lower, Oil Declined

U.S, stocks ended sharply lower on Monday, with the Dow dropping more than 600, amid domestic oil prices slipped for the eleventh consecutive day. The Dow fell 602.12 points, or 2.32%, to 25,387.18. The S&P 500 lost 54.79 points, or 1.97%, to 2,726.22. The Nasdaq Composite declined 206.03 points, or 2.78%, to 7,200.87.

Oil prices declined on Monday, giving up earlier gains to push the U.S. benchmark below $60 a barrel for the first time since February. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery fell 26 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $59.93 a barrel. January Brent crude edged down by 6 cents, or less than 0.1%, Monday to $70.12 a barrel.
