Stocks Ended Mixed ahead of Midterm Elections

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday as investors braced for a week that including key elections in Washington and the latest policy outlook by the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 190.87 points, or 0.76%, to 25,461.70. The S&P 500 climbed 5.94 points, or 0.56%, to 2,738.31. The Nasdaq Composite slipped 28.14 points, or 0.38%, to 7,328.85.

U.S. benchmark oil futures finished with a modest loss on Monday, after the Trump administration granted waivers, allowing eight nations to continue buying Iranian crude. West Texas Intermediate crude for December fell by 4 cents, or less than 0.1%, to settle at $63.10 a barrel. January Brent crude rose 34 cents, or 0.5%, to $73.17 a barrel.
