Stocks Ended Lower, but Booked Weekly Gains

U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday, with tech sector declines pulling indices lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 109.91 points, or 0.43%, to 25,270.83. The S&P 500 fell 17.31 points, or 0.63%, to 2,723.06. The Nasdaq Composite declined 77.06 points, or 1.04%, to 7,356.99. For the week, both the Dow and the S&P 500 are up 2.4% and the Nasdaq advanced 2.7%.

Oil futures declined Friday, suffering from a fourth straight weekly loss, pressured by U.S. plans to issue waivers on Iranian oil sanctions and growing global crude production. December West Texas Intermediate crude fell 55 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $63.14 a barrel. For the week, WTI lost 6.6%. Brent crude for January delivery lost 6 cents, or less than 0.1%, at $72.83 a barrel. It lost about 6.2% for the week.

The S&P/Case-Shiller 20-city index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.1% and was 5.5% higher compared to its level a year ago, the lowest annual increase in 20 months.
