Stocks Ended Higher, Oil Extended Gains

U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday, with the S&P 500 snapping a five-day losing streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 208.77 points, or 0.83%, to 25,289.27. The S&P 500 added 28.62 points, or 1.06%, to 2,730.20. The Nasdaq Composite gained 122.64 points, or 1.72%, to 7,259.03.

U.S. oil prices climbed Thursday, as data from the U.S. government showed that domestic-crude supplies rose more than expected and for an eighth week in a row as output reached a record. December West Texas Intermediate crude rose 21 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $56.46 a barrel. January Brent added 50 cents, or 0.8%, to $66.62 a barrel.
