Stocks Ended Lower on Worries about Rising Yields

U.S. stocks Ended lower on Friday as worries about rising interest rates overshadowed the September jobs report. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 180.43 points, or 0.68%, to 26,447.05. The S&P 500 fell 16.04 points, or 0.55%, to 2,885.57. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 91.06 points, or 1.16%, to 7,788.45. For the week, the Dow is mostly flat, the S&P 500 slid 1% and the Nasdaq declined 3.2%.

U.S. oil prices ended nearly flat on Friday and global crude finished lower, as the market continued to question the ability of the world’s major producers to make up for losses of Iranian crude exports tied to pending U.S. sanctions.November West Texas Intermediate crude tacked on a penny to settle at $74.34 a barrel. December Brent lost 42 cents, or 0.5%, to end at $84.16 a barrel. For the week, WTI rose 1.5%, while Brent crude advanced by 1.7%.
