Stocks Ended Mixed, Nasdaq Lower Weighed by Tech

U. S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday in the wake of trade uncertainty between the U.S. and some of its major foreign counterparts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 158.80 points, or 0.61%, to 26,405.76. The S&P 500 added 3.64 points, or 0.13%, to 2,907.95. The Nasdaq Composite fell 6.07 points, or 0.08%, to 7,950.04.

Oil futures climbed Wednesday, with the U.S. benchmark settling at its highest since July after a government report revealed a fifth-straight weekly decline in U.S. crude inventories. October West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.27, or 1.8%, to settle at $71.12 a barrel. November Brent added a more modest 37 cents, or 0.5%, to finish at $79.40 a barrel.

Amazon.com Inc. is considering a plan to open as many as 3,000 new AmazonGo cashierless stores in the next few years, according to people familiar with matter.
