Stocks Ended Lower on Trade Tensions

U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday, as fears about intensifying tariff disputes between China and the U.S. rattled investors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 92.55 points, or 0.35%, to 26,062.12. The S&P 500 declined 16.18 points, or 0.56%, to 2,888.80. the Nasdaq Composite dropped 114.25 points, or 1.43%, to 7,895.79.

Oil futures posted a modest loss on Monday, pressured by the potential for lower global demand on the heels of U.S.-China trade tensions. October futures on West Texas Intermediate crude fell by 8 cents, or 0.1%, to settle at $68.91 a barrel. November Brent shed 4 cents, or 0.05%, to settle at $78.05 a barrel.
