Stocks Closed Mostly Lower amid Trade Tensions

U.S. stocks closed mostly lower on Monday, following the roll-out of the Trump administration’s latest round of tariffs on Chinese imports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 181.45 points, or 0.68%, to 26,562.05. The S&P 500 lost 10.30 points, or 0.35%, to 2,919.37. The Nasdaq Composite gained 6.29 points, or 0.08%, to 7,993.25.

Oil prices rallied on Monday, with Brent marking its highest settlement since late 2014 and U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude ending at a more than two-month high. November Brent crude climbed $2.40, or nearly 3.1%, to settle at $81.20 a barrel. November WTI oil rose $1.30, or 1.8%, to settle at $72.08 a barrel.
