Stocks Opened Slightly Higher ahead of Fed Decision

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Wednesday as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s policy statement later in the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 26.93 points, or 0.11%, to 25,347.66. The S&P 500 climbed 2.22 points, or 0.08%, to 2,789.07. The Nasdaq Composite gained 16.61 points, or 0.22%, to 7,720.40.

Crude-oil prices traded mixed on Wednesday, as investors assessed data signaling growing global appetite for crude against evidence of a pickup in OPEC production. July West Texas Intermediate crude fell 38 cents, or 0.6%, to $65.97 a barrel. August Brent crude rose 24 cents, or 0.3%, to $76.13 a barrel.

AT&T Inc. won approval from a U.S. court on Tuesday to buy Time Warner Inc. in one of the largest antitrust cases in decades.
