Stocks Ended Mixed, Dow Gained

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Thursday, as a surge in crude-oil prices failed to offset a retreat in the technology sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 95.02 points, or 0.38%, to 25,241.41. The S&P 500 lost 1.98 points, or 0.07%, to 2,770.37. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 54.17 points, or 0.70%, to 7,635.07.

Oil futures finished Thursday’s session sharply higher, as traders fretted over a looming supply outage in Iran and falling output in Venezuela. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery rose $1.22, or 1.9%, to settle at $65.95 a barrel. August Brent crude gained $1.96 or 2.6%, at $77.32 a barrel.
