Stocks Ended Lower as Dow Hit 8-day Losing Streak

U.S. stocks ended lower Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average stretching its losing streak to eight days, as fears of a global trade war continued to weigh on investors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 196.10 points, or 0.80%, to 24,461.70. The S&P 500 was down 17.56 points, or 0.63%, to 2,749.76. The Nasdaq Composite was down 68.56 points, or 0.88%, to 7,712.95.

Global oil prices ended sharply lower on Thursday, as OPEC and its allies appeared to move closer to a deal to raise output as key oil producers gathered in Vienna ahead of meetings on Friday and Saturday. August West Texas Intermediate crude lost 17 cents, or 0.3%, to settle at $65.54 a barrel. August Brent dropped $1.69, or 2.3%, to end at $73.05 a barrel.
