Stocks Ended Higher as Technology Led Gains

U.S stocks ended higher on Monday, as technology stocks led the market higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 178.48 points, or 0.72%, to 24,813.69. The S&P 500 added 12.25 points, or 0.45%, to 2,746.87. The Nasdaq Composite gained 52.13 points, or 0.69%, to 7,606.46.

Oil futures dropped Monday, pressured by growing expectations that OPEC will decide to curb crude production cuts when it meets later this month. July West Texas Intermediate crude fell by $1.06, or 1.6%, to settle at $64.75 a barrel. August Brent crude dropped $1.50, or about 2%, to $75.29 a barrel.

ConocoPhillips (COP) is preparing to offload its stake in Cenovus Energy Inc (CVE.TO) that it acquired as part of an asset sale to the Canadian oil and gas producer last year, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
