Stocks Ended Higher as Investors Shrugged off Trade Concerns

U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday as investors shrugged off concerns about global trade tensions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 75.12 points, or 0.30%, to 25,316.53. The S&P 500 gained 8.66 points, or 0.31%, to 2,779.03. The Nasdaq Composite added 10.44 points, or 0.14%, to 7,645.51. For the week, the Dow posted a 2.8% gain, the S&P 500 rose 1.6% and the Nasdaq rose 1.2%.

Oil futures settled lower Friday and registered a slight weekly decline. July West Texas Intermediate crude lost 21 cents, or 0.3%, to end at $65.74 a barrel. August Brent crude shed 86 cents, or 1.1%, to $76.46 a barrel.

The Group of Seven leaders are to agree on Friday to share information between themselves and work with internet service providers and social media companies to thwart foreign meddling in elections in their countries, a draft summit commitment said.
