Stocks Ended Sharply Lower, Dow Tumbled over 420 Points

U.S. stocks ended sharply lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average seeing the biggest losses. The Dow dropped 424.56 points, or 1.74%, to 24,024.13. the S&P 500 fell 35.73 points, or 1.34%, to 2,634.56. The Nasdaq Composite lost 121.25 points, or 1.70%, to 7,007.35.

Oil settled lower on Tuesday, finding little support from uncertainty surrounding Iran’s nuclear deal, as a diminished appetite for risk weighed on the U.S. stock market. June West Texas Intermediate crude lost 94 cents, or 1.4%, to settle at $67.70 a barrel. Global benchmark June Brent settled at $73.86 a barrel.

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose above 3 percent for the first time since January 2014, snapping out of a months-long trading range amid an onslaught of supply and a Federal Reserve intent on boosting interest rates.

International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) said Tuesday it will raise its quarterly dividend by 4.7% to $1.57 a share, marking the 23rd-straight year the technology company has boosted its payout.
