Stock Ended Higehr on Softer U.S. Stance on China Trade

U.S stocks ended higher on Monday as a softer stance by U.S. policymakers on China tariffs powered a rebound from last week’s sell-off, though stocks pared gains in the final minutes of the trading session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 46.34 points, or 0.19%, to 23,979.10. The S&P 500 gained 8.69 points, or 0.33%, to 2,613.16. The Nasdaq Composite added 35.23 points, or 0.51%, to 6,950.34.

Oil prices settled higher on Monday, to recover much of what they lost last week, as U.S.-China tensions appeared to ease. May West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.36, or 2.2%, to settle at $63.42 a barrel. June Brent crude added $1.54, or 2.3%, at $68.65 a barrel.
