Stocks Opened Higher, Led by Financials

U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday, led by gains in financial stocks ahead of a near-certain interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 122.90 points, or 0.50%, to 24,733.81. The S&P 500 gained 7.64 points, or 0.28%, to 2,720.56. The Nasdaq Composite added 24.73 points, or 0.34%, to 7,368.98.

Oil futures pushed higher on Tuesday, lifted by continued tensions in the Middle East that could weigh on global oil supplies. April West Texas Intermediate crude rose by 70 cents, or 1.1%, to $62.76 a barrel. May Brent crude gained 83 cents, or 1.3%, to $66.90 a barrel.

Package delivery company FedEx Corp said on Tuesday it will open 500 FedEx Office stores inside Walmart Inc’s U.S. locations, a partnership intended to help both companies attract new customers and handle online order returns.
