Stocks Surged at Open

U.S. stocks surged at open on Friday, a day after both the Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 fell into correction territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 237.23 points, or 0.99%, to 24,097.69. The S&P 500 added 28.74 points, or 1.11%, to 2,609.74. The Nasdaq Composite gained 81.53 points, or 1.20%, to6,858.69.

Crude oil prices declined for a sixth straight session on Friday, as investors continued to worry about a surge in U.S. production and the selloff in equity markets. West Texas Intermediate crude futures dropped 68 cents, or 1.1%, to $60.48 a barrel. Brent crude fell 44 cents, or 0.7% to $64.37 a barrel.

Amazon is gearing up to launch a delivery service for businesses, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The service is called “Shipping with Amazon” and will see the tech giant picking up packages from businesses and delivering them to customers.
