Stocks Ended Up for Third Straight Session

U.S. stocks closed higher for a third straight session on Tuesday, as investors focused on inflation data on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 39.18 points, or 0.16%, to 24,640.45. The S&P 500 gained 6.94 points, or 0.26%, to 2,662.94. The Nasdaq Composite added 31.55 points, or 0.45%, to 7,013.51.

Oil futures saw a mixed finish, with the U.S. benchmark edging lower and the global benchmark holding a small gain after the International Energy Agency forecast strong global crude demand. March West Texas Intermediate crude fell 10 cents, or 0.2%, to end at $59.19 a barrel. April Brent crude added 13 cents, or 0.2%, to $62.72 a barrel.
