Stocks Ended Mostly Higher, Nasdaq in the Red

U.S stocks ended mostly higher on Thursday, with the Nasdaq closing in negative territory, as U.S. Treasury yields eased. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 164.70 points, or 0.66%, to 24,962.48. The S&P 500 rose 2.63 points, or 0.10%, to 2,703.96. The Nasdaq Composite shed 8.14 points, or 0.11%, to 7,210.09.

Oil futures turned higher Thursday after government data showed an unexpected drop in crude inventories last week. West Texas Intermediate crude oil for April delivery gained $1.09, or 1.8%, at $62.77 a barrel. Brent crude rose 97 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $66.39 a barrel.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE)’s quarterly results and outlook topped Wall Street estimates. The company reported first fiscal quarter net income of $1.44 billion, or 89 cents a share, compared with $267 million, or 16 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $7.67 billion from $6.9 billion in the year-ago period.
