Stocks Ended Down after Choppy Session

U.S. stocks closed lower on Wednesday, dragged down by tech and energy shares, as investors adjusted to a more volatile market following wild swings of the past few sessions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 19.42 points, or 0.08%, to 24,89335. The S&P 500 lost 13.48 points, or 0.50%, to 2,681.66. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 63.90 points, or 0.90%, to 7,051.98.

Oil futures dropped Wednesday, with the U.S. benchmark settling at a one-month low, as a second weekly rise in U.S. crude stockpiles and record domestic production halted earlier attempts to rebound from a three-session decline. March West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.60, or 2.5%, to settle at $61.79 a barrel. April Brent fell $1.35, or 2%, to end at $65.51 a barrel.
