Stocks Ended Mixed, Dow and S&P Hit Records

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 hit record highs, buoyed by strong blue-chip earnings, following President Donald Trump’s dollar-supportive comments. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 140.67 points, or 0.54%, to 26,392.79. The S&P 500 gained 1.71 points, or 0.06%, to 2,839.25. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 3.89 points, or 0.05%, to 7,411.16.

Oil prices suffered a last-minute turn lower on Thursday, giving up their highest levels in more than three years as reported comments from President Donald Trump fueled a rebound in the U.S. dollar. March West Texas Intermediate crude fell 10 cents, or 0.2%, to settle at $66.51 a barrel. Brent for March fell 11 cents, or 0.2%, to $70.42 a barrel.
