Stocks Ended Slightly Lower after Congress Passeed Tax Bill

U.S. stocks ended slightly lower on Wednesday after both houses of Congress approved a long-anticipated tax overhaul. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 28.10 points, or 0.11%, to 24,726.65. The S&P 500 lost 2.22 points, or 0.08%, to 2,679.25. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.89 points, or 0.04%, to 6,960.96.

Oil futures ended higher on Wednesday after data showed a larger-than-expected drop in U.S. crude inventories. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery rose 53 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $58.09 a barrel. February Brent crude rose 76 cents, or 1.2%, to finish at $64.56 a barrel.
