Stocks Ended Lower as Apple Shares Weighed

U.S. stocks ended lower on Tuesday as a decline in shares of Apple Inc. dragged the broader market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 7.85 points, or 0.03%, to 24,746.21. The S&P 500 was down 2.84 points, or 0.11%, to 2,680.50. The Nasdaq Composite retreated 23.71 points, or 0.34%, to 6,936.25.

Oil prices finished around a 2½-year high on Tuesday, with futures supported by pipeline outages in the North Sea and Libya. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery gained $1.50, or 2.6%, to settle at $59.97 a barrel. February Brent crude picked up $1.77, or 2.7%, to $67.02 a barrel.
