Stocks Ended the Week with Record Highs

U.S. stocks finished the week on a high note on Friday, amid economic data including weaker-than-expected inflation but strong retail sales numbers. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 30.71 points, or 0.13 %, to 22,871.72, up 0.4% on the week. The S&P 500 gained 2.24 points, or 0.09%, to 2,553.17, registering a 0.2% weekly gain. The Nasdaq Composite added 14.29 points, or 0.22%, to 6,605.80, and 0.2% on the week.

Oil prices settled at a two-week high Friday, with the U.S. benchmark up more than 4% for the week. November West Texas Intermediate crude rose 85 cents, or 1.7%, to settle at $51.45 a barrel, up around 4.4% for the week. December Brent crude rose 92 cents, or 1.6%, to $57.17 a barrel, 2.8% higher on the week.
