Stocks Ended Lower; Healthcare Slided

U.S. stocks closed lower on Monday, as a slide in healthcare stocks weighed on the main indexes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 12.60 points, or 0.06%, to 22,761.07. The S&P 500 lost 4.60 points, or 0.18%, to 2,544.73. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 10.45 points, or 0.16%, to 6,579.73.

Oil futures ended slightly higher Monday, finding some support after OPEC’s secretary-general said the cartel and other oil producers might need to take additional measures in 2018 to rebalance the oil market. December Brent crude rose 17 cents, or 0.3%, to close at $55.79 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery added 29 cents, or 0.6%, to settle at $49.58 a barrel.

On Monday, General Motors said it would buy Strobe, which uses laser-radar (Lidar) technology to help self-driving cars identify objects at a distance, to boost its push into the market for self-driving vehicles.
