Stocks Ended Higher, Dow and S&P 500 at All-time Highs

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday, with the Dow industrials and the S&P 500 closing at all-time highs for a second straight session, ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 63.01 points, or 0.28%, to 22,331.35. The S&P 500 gained 3.64 points, or 0.15%, to 2,503.87. The Nasdaq Composite added 6.17 points, or 0.10%, to 6,454.64.

U.S. oil prices settled little changed on Monday, as traders weighed prospects for an extension to the OPEC-led production cut agreement and expectations for U.S. crude output. October West Texas Intermediate crude tacked on 2 cents, or less than 0.5%, to settle at $49.91 a barrel. November Brent crude lost 14 cents, or 0.3%, to $55.48 a barrel.

Toys “R” Us Inc., which has struggled to lift its fortunes since a buyout loaded it with debt more than a decade ago, is preparing a Chapter 11 filing as soon as today.
