Stocks Ended at Record Highs

U.S. stocks ended at record highs on Friday, with a big assist from rallying telecommunication and bank shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 64.86 points, or 0.29%, to 22,268.34. The S&P 500 gained 4.61 points, or 0.18%, to 2,500.23. The Nasdaq Composite rose 19.38 points, or 0.30%, to 6,448.47. For the week, the Dow rose 2.2%, the S&P rose 1.6%, and the Nasdaq rose 1.4%.

Oil prices ended unchanged for Friday’s session, but marked the biggest weekly gain since late July. October West Texas Intermediate crude settled unchanged at $49.89 a barrel. November Brent rose 15 cents, or 0.3%, to $55.62 a barrel. WTI crude saw a 5.1% weekly rise. Brent ended about 3.4% higher for the week.
