Dow Post Ninth Straight Record

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday, with the Dow booked its 9th straight record and the S&P 500 also notched an all-time high, lifted by gains in technology and consumer-staples stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25.61 points, or 0.12%, to 22,118.42. The S&P 500 gained 4.08 points, or 0.16%, to 2,480.91. The Nasdaq Composite added 32.21 points, or 0.51%, to 6,383.77.

Oil futures bounced off intraday lows but still finished lower Monday on concerns about major oil producers’ wavering commitment to output caps as a meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries gets under way. West Texas Intermediate for delivery in September dropped 19 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $49.39 a barrel. October Brent crude shed 5 cents, or 0.1%, to settle at $52.37 a barrel.
