Stocks Opened Flat ahead of Fed Meeting

U.S. stocks opened little changed on Monday, with the corporate earnings in focus and ahead of a two-day Federal Reserve meeting that kicks off on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 39.04 points, or 0.18%, to 21,541.03. The S&P 500 lost 2.87 points, or 0.12%, to 2,469.67. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 6.41 points, or 0.10%, to 6,394.16.

Oil prices gained Monday, as investors kept a close eye on a meeting of major crude producers. Light, sweet crude futures for delivery in September rose by 33 cents, or 0.7%, to $46.10 a barrel. September Brent crude tacked on 42 cents, or 0.9%, to $48.73 a barrel.
