Stocks Opened Higher ahead of ‘Super Thursday’

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Wednesday, rebounding after two sessions of losses, ahead of a number of potentially market-moving events on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately gained 35.34 points, or 0.17%, to 21,171.57. The S&P 500 added 3.79 points, or 0.16%, to 2,433.12. The Nasdaq Composite was up 17.79 points, or 0.28%, to 6,292.85.

A European Central Bank policy meeting and the U.K. general election on Thursday, as well as former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey’s congressional testimony have left investors cautious.

Global oil prices pushed lower Wednesday, amid deepening oversupply concerns after the U.S. energy department again raised oil production estimates. Light, sweet crude futures for delivery in July traded at $47.88 a barrel, down 31 cents, or 0.6%. August Brent crude dipped 34 cents, or 0.7%, to $49.80 a barrel.

Sears Holdings is closing 66 more stores in its drive to bring its Sears and Kmart stores back to profitability, a source close to the chain said Tuesday.
