Stocks Ended Mixed, Nasdaq Slipped for 2nd Week

U.S.stocks ended mixed on Friday, with the Dow closed at record for 4th week and Nasdaq slipped for second week The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 24.52 points, or 0.1%, at 21,384.42. The S&P 500 index was up 0.68 point at 2,433.14. The Nasdaq Composite was down 13.74 points, or 0.2%, to end the week 0.9% lower. For the week, the Dow gained 0.5%, the S&P 500 was up less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq was down 0.9%.

Oil prices rebounded Friday after hitting their lowest settlement of 2017, but registered their fourth weekly loss in a row—the longest such streak of declines in nearly two years.July West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 28 cents, or 0.6%, to settle at $44.74 a barrel, while August Brent added 45 cents, or 1%, to $47.37 a barrel.For the week, WTI crude was down 2.4% and Brent suffered a 1.6% weekly slide.

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) announced Friday that it’s acquiring Whole Foods Market Inc. (WFM)for $42 per share in an all-cash transaction of about $13.7 billion, including Whole Foods’ debt.
