Stocks Ended Lower, Oil Prices Dropped

U.S. stocks ended lower on Tuesday, pulling back from record territory, as investors dumped energy shares following a sharp drop in oil prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 61.85 points, or 0.29%, to 21,467.14. The S&P 500 was off  16.43 points, or 0.67%, to 2,437.03. The Nasdaq Composite was down 50.98 points, or 0.82%, to 6,188.03.

Oil prices fell sharply on Tuesday to mark the lowest settlement for a front-month futures contract in about nine months. July WTI crude lost 97 cents, or 2.2%, to settle $43.23 a barrel. August WTI crude lost 92 cents, or 2.1%, to end at $43.51 a barrel.
